Evolution through Innovation introduces latest wide-format printers, AR glasses, laser-based projectors, and photo scanner

Epson Australia has launched two new high-speed, large-format printers, at an event called Evolution through Innovation, at Otto restaurant in Sydney.

The 24-inch SureColor T3160 and the 36-inch SureColor T5160 are available as desktop or floor-standing models, and were featured alongside other Epson products ranging from projectors, to fast-photo-scanners, and augmented reality glasses.

The new T-Series printers service the low-to-mid range of the market, which an Epson spokesperson says accounts for two-thirds of market share, with the company previously only operating in the upper third. Both print in CMYK, with a 2400x1200dpi resolution.

Marking Epson’s expansion of the T-Series product line to the low-to-mid-range CAD, AEC, GIS, POS poster and education markets, the company says the new models will assist professionals across a wider range of segments including architecture, engineering, CAD, GIS, education, corporate, home and small office users.

Craig Heckenberg, general manager, Sales and Marketing, Business Division, Epson Australia, says, “Since we introduced our first A3 digital proofing device in 1987, Epson has been helping business transition from analogue to digital technologies. Over the years our large format printer business has evolved, thanks to the strength of our PrecisionCore technology, and the flexibility around that technology to be able to use different ink sets.

“Our product designers are able to experiment and look at technical requirements out there in the market, and use the right inks to meet those requirements. Today, our large format business consists of four key areas: graphics, technical, sign, and textile.

“It is in the technical area that we are expanding today. Until now, only mid-to-large size technical and engineering companies have enjoyed the productivity benefits of the T-Series range.

“I am pleased to announce today four new models which will appeal to those who want the productivity gains that come from being able to do your printing either at home or in the office.

“They are designed to do high-quality, presentation graphics, detailed schematics, and full-colour POS posters, with the compact models able to produce prints in as little as 22 seconds.”

Leveraging Epson’s PrecisionCore MicroTFP printhead technology and Nozzle Verification technology to automatically detect and adjust nozzle condition, the new printers offer print speeds of A1 prints in 31 seconds for the SC-T5160 and 34 seconds for the SC-T3160, with precise detail and commercial-grade reliability.

A spokesperson from the company says, “Featuring integrated wireless and Wi-Fi Direct connectivity, users can seamlessly print from tablets and smartphones or use the new 4.3-inch colour LCD touchscreen with simple and intuitive menu control and navigation.

“Next-generation high-capacity UltraChrome XD2 pigment inks deliver durable archival prints with brilliant colour and crisp lines.”
