Soar Printing to produce special wrap for NZ Herald

Soar Printing will 'gift wrap' 60,000 New Zealand Herald newspapers as part of a campaign to stop a plant disease.

The Auckland firm will produce a special wrap in March that will feature photos of diseased kauri trees and information on how to help stop the spread of kauri dieback.

Soar will do the work pro-bono after becoming a sponsor of the Kauri Dieback Management Programme.

Director Jenny Carter said Soar was passionate about supporting the community.

"We’ve seen first-hand the terrible effects of kauri dieback in our region – thousands of kauri have died and there is no cure," she said.

"We really wanted to get involved and raise awareness of this disease to help stop its spread throughout kauri lands."

The relationship manager of the Kauri Dieback Management Programme, Ian Mitchell, said the group was very grateful for Soar's support.

"Soar are being innovative and proactive in helping us to get the message out to the public about the need for cleanliness, vigilance and care around kauri trees," he said.

"We need all the help we can get to stop the spread of kauri dieback disease and everyone can help right throughout the kauri land regions."
