Kodak flexo system helps Sydney company use fewer colours

10 Jul 2012 |  Nick Bendel   |   Comment Now

IMS Group can promise global brands such as Unilever that it will hit consistent colour every time thanks to its new Kodak flexo CTP.

Managing director Mark Mahoney told ProPrint that since installing the Kodak Flexcel NX system three months ago, the Sydney company had been producing higher colour density with fewer colours without a drop-off in quality.

"We want to give the true meaning of colour-based management. Everyone talks about it in the marketplace, but few can deliver it," he said.

"It's a quality piece of equipment. We're getting some very nice printed results. At this stage it looks like we've made an astute purchase."

The Flexcel NX flexo printing system allows the printing of smoother, higher-density solids without laying down more ink, according to Kodak.

IMS designs and produces packaging, mostly for the FMCG sector, said Mahoney. The 50-staff company's main client is Unilever, while it also works with Kraft and Kellogg's, he added.

"Multinational companies no longer accept that their packaging may vary across markets. Ensuring consistent colour across all print processes and packaging substrates is becoming a standard and the Kodak technology will definitely give us greater control to meet these demands."

Mahoney said the Kodak system was the best on the market and allowed IMS to produce the level of quality its big clients demanded.
