Camerons wins $22m of Federal government work away from Ducor

15 Jun 2012 |  Nick Bendel   |   Comment Now

The Camerons Group has won a multimillion-dollar Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme contract previously held by Ducor.

The contract started on 22 May and was valued at $22 million over three years, according to the Department of Human Services.

A number of industry sources have told ProPrint that the contract was worth up to 30% more under the previous deal.

The previous value is unknown, but it is safe to say it represented a significant portion of Ducor's turnover.

Notably, the department opted to remain with a direct supplier by awarding it to Camerons, rather than go with a print management arrangement.

A department spokesperson told ProPrint: "The contract is for the provision of design, printing, personalisation, storage and distribution of a range of Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme stationery items and related services such as prescription forms, prescription pads and other items."

The spokesperson wouldn't reveal how many other companies had tendered for the job or why the Sydney-based company had come out on top.

Camerons general manager Troy Cameron said: "Obviously we are very happy to have been selected and are focusing our energy on working with the PBS team to best serve their needs.

"However, it is not my place to comment on the contract out of courtesy to the department and the team of people we are working with and commercial-in-confidence issues."

Last year, Camerons picked up $1 million of census work and also won an $800,000 contract for Tax File Number Declaration forms.

Camerons specialise in paper-based mail marketing and have also developed an envelope management program designed to improve workflow and save costs of envelope supply, according to the company website.
