Australia Post is biggest digital mailbox deal in the world: Pitney Bowes

9 May 2012 |  Steven Kiernan   |   Comment Now

The team behind Australia Post’s new digital mailbox platform have used the global stage of Drupa to say how the deal is the biggest of its kind anywhere in the world.

The senior management team of Pitney Bowes’ new Volly division are at German trade fair to demonstrate the multiplatform future of mail.

Volly is a “digital mailbox” that creates a secure online channel for approved mailers to contact customers, without the risks or spam of email and without the costs of regular post.

Pitney Bowes has chalked up a major customer success for Volly, with the ink barely dry on a huge deal with Australia Post. Signed in April, Cordray called the biggest deal of its kind anywhere in the world.

Chuck Cordray, the US-based president of Volly, joined Pitney Bowes one year ago from Hearst Magazines, where he had been tasked with bringing back in-house the websites of major magazine mastheads, such as Cosmopolitan and Esquire.

The former publishing man said he was staggered by the scale of his first Drupa.

”I had no idea how big it would be. I am amazed at how big the venue is and how many people are here. The sheer footprint is enormous,” said Cordray.

He is joined at Drupa by the firm’s international business development director, Matt Harding, based in the UK office.

On day one, Harding told ProPrint: “We haven’t even seen one entire hall yet.”

Cordray said the duo was at Drupa to understand more about the industry as well as spread the Volly message.
