Roland DG adds white ink to printer-cutter range

13 Apr 2012 |  Simon Nias   |   Comment Now

Visitors to Visual Impact Image Expo on the Gold Coast will be among the first in the world to clap eyes on Roland DG's new white ink option.

The option has been added to the VersaStudio BN-20 and VersaCamm VS series of eco-solvent, metallic inkjet printer/cutters.

Roland DG has announced a five-colour, CMYK + white, configuration of the BN-20, while the VersaCamm VS is now available with up to seven colours from CMYK, LC, LM and double white.

Marketing manager Anthony McCausland said printers were looking for "the best tools available for the lowest cost and with the quickest ROI".

He called the white ink option a "value-add solution" that fit the bill.

"You don't always need to buy new equipment to improve your business. You just need to know what your equipment is capable of to make sure you are getting the most out of it," he said.

"White ink will open up a range of new opportunities for your business including labelling, packaging, window films, T-shirt transfers and much more."

Roland DG said the launch was in response to the growing demand from brand owners, retail outlets and design houses for small volume and specialised printing to enhance retail promotions and drive sales, which it said was being driven by shortened product life cycles.

The BN-20 is a 508mm wide compact eco-solvent inkjet printer/cutter for the production of short-run graphics, labels, apparel, window graphics and signage on a wide variety of media including transparent film. It features Roland's print and cut workflow that prints and precision contour cuts graphics of virtually any shape.

The VS Series eco-solvent inkjet printer/cutter is available in four different widths, from 762mm to 1.6m. Using transparent film and the new high-opacity white ink configuration, the VS Series is said to produce a wide variety of high-quality applications such as window displays, labels, decals or small production packaging prototypes.

According to Roland DG, the new white ink configuration increases speed by 200% for standard white colour printing compared to the previous Roland configurations for even higher productivity.

Visual Impact will be held from 19-21 April at the Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre.

ProPrint will be holding a free breakfast panel event on 20 April at the nearby Sofitel Broadbeach. Click here to register.
