Prestigious state awards show print is moving with the times: PIAA

14 Mar 2012 |  Nick Bendel   |   Comment Now

The annual state awards remain high points for printers across the country and show how print is moving with the times, according to the peak trade association.

Printing Industries Association of Australia (PIAA) chief executive Bill Healey told ProPrint that the Printing Industries Craftsmanship Awards (PICA) were an important vehicle for "promoting excellence in the industry".

They also proved the successful adjustments many printers had made to the changes occurring within the industry, he added.

Healey said it was important printers moved with the times, which was what the PIAA was doing with its proposed merger with GASAA.

He also said the PIAA was keen reinforce the value of entering a competition considered prestigious by clients.

"You've only got to walk into any major company to see they've got their PICAs on the walls."

Last year's state-by-state awards attracted more than 2,000 entries, according to Healey. About 200 of those have progressed to the 29th National Print Awards to be held in Melbourne on 20 April.
