Fuji Xerox moves upstream with $3.8m government publishing contract

Fuji Xerox beat nine companies for the right to handle the Department of Human Services' (DHS) document composition, which was previously done internally.

The documents will be composed with Xpression software, while printing will continue to be done by Salmat, Computershare and Sema as part of long-standing arrangements with DHS.

Anthony Cogswell, executive general manager of global services at Fuji Xerox Australia, told ProPrint the vendor had gained a close understanding of DHS's needs after working with it for the past 15 years.

The contract started in October 2011 and will continue until June 2014, with DHS having the option to extend it for two further two-year periods.

The three government agencies will receive upgraded document composition tools and communications service support.

DHS produces more than 140 million letters a year.
