"No excuse" to miss GASAA's free disaster planning seminars

Businesses – especially small businesses – need to know how to react if struck down by natural disasters, lengthy staff absences, financial crisis or machinery failure, said GASAA executive officer Garry Knespal.

That's why the trade association is hosting a roadshow to promote contingency planning, supported by funding from the Federal government's Enterprise Connect programme.

Knespal said the Spotlight Sessions would be free, concise and informal, so there was no excuse for people not to attend.

"This is not a boring PowerPoint event. This is an open forum of what can go wrong and how to plan for it," he said.

The roadshow, which is being supported by the Printing Industries Association of Australia, will start in Adelaide on 8 February and Perth on 9 February.

"I know everyone is busy and returning from holiday, but you don't get the government and experts on planning and two industry associations together in Adelaide and Perth – you just don't get that. It hasn't happened before and it might not happen again unless people go out and join in."

The Spotlight Sessions will feature a panel of experts discussing real-life disaster scenarios and how to plan for them, said Knespal.
