IBS Cards uses KBA Genius to develop eco-friendly plastic cards

Gold Coast-based IBS Cards has claimed an industry first with its new range of "eco-friendly" plastic business cards.

The card, which is printed on recyclable polypropylene plastic stock, takes advantage of the waterless offset functionality of the KBA Genius 52 UV press.

IBS managing director Scott Siganto said the resilient plastic stock was perfect for situations where materials are exposed to the elements and the company will be complementing its plastic business card range with menus, corporate folders, swing tags, rulers and cardholders.

"A great deal of time has been invested in researching and developing this product to suit our clients' needs. We think this will be a very popular addition to our range of products," he said.

IBS said its other sustainable offerings include UV-cured inks, a 100% recycled 100gsm stock and two art board stocks sourced from sustainable forests.

Siganto added that the Genius press significantly reduces emissions of harmful compounds into the atmosphere.

"The Genius produces less waste in makereadies, uses no water or chemicals and allows us to print on on a variety of stocks, such as this 0.6microns thick polypropylene," he said.
