Computershare takes delivery of first InfoPrint 5000 in the country

16 Dec 2010 |  Comment Now

High-volume colour digital capacity in Australia has surged as Computershare fired up the first InfoPrint 5000 in Sydney, shortly after Salmat took delivery of its first Oce Jetstream.

The high-speed continuous-feed InfoPrint 5000 - the first in the country - is one of two machines ordered by Computershare, with the second expected to be up and running in Melbourne before Christmas.

Ross Ingleton, sales director at Computershare Communications Services, said the machine at the Ermington facility is now "fully functional and ready for business".

"We have a number of clients eager to see their first print job produced on the market-leading platform," he said.

Computershare announced the investment back in August, and expects the second InfoPrint 5000 to be installed in Port Melbourne in the coming week.

The InfoPrint 5000 range can hit speeds of up to 128 metres per minute, producing 1,832 full-colour single-sided A4 prints per minute.

The news comes hot on the heels of an announcement from Salmat last week that the first of the Océ Jetstream 2200 machines it ordered had arrived at its Melbourne facility, with another to arrive at its Sydney facility in January.

The Jetstream 2200 produces 2,200 A4 full-colour pages per minute and has a monthly duty cycle of 24-50 million A4 pages per month.
