Group Momentum buys first HP Indigo 7500 in Australia

29 Oct 2010 |  Steven Kiernan   |   Comment Now

Group Momentum has hit the ground running with the country's first HP Indigo 7500, doing more work in the first two days than it would have done in a fortnight two years ago.

The North Sydney-based marketing communication company, which includes digital print, design and photography, took delivery of the press last week from reseller Currie Group.

Installation of the Ipex-launched press further cements the company's position as an early adopter - the 7500 replaces an HP Indigo 5500, which was also the first in the country.

"We have been an avid adopter of new technology," managing director David Minnett told ProPrint.

He said the 7500's colour management was "fundamentally different" to the 5500.

"You have a strong consistency of colour across different runs and different stocks," he added.

Minnett also talked up the higher productivity of the 7500.

"In an era when deadlines seem to get shorter and shorter, and we have got busier, throughput has been an issue.

"We did more work on this machine in the first two days than we would have done in two weeks two years ago. That is quite profound," said Minnett.

Currie Group general manager Phillip Rennell said Group Momentum "has always been at the forefront of the marketplace".

"They are a true marketing service provider - the kind of organisation that everyone looks to be. Photography, graphic design, a complete service business. It is a model lots of people aspire to, but not a lot of people get to," said Rennell.

The HP Indigo produces up to 120 A4 pages per minute in full colour or 240ppm in monochrome or two-colour mode.
