Pacific Magazines is heralding print and cross-media production efficiencies on its most recent magazine launch following Australia's first install of the latest version of WoodWing publishing software.

New women's title Prevention marks the first time version six of WoodWing´s Enterprise Content Publishing Platform and Content Station has been rolled out in the country.

The system allows designers and editorial staff to collaborate on the same page without spoiling each other's work. Distributor Creative Folks claims the workflow changes can "pretty much halve" lead times.

Pacific business liaison officer Fraser Crozier told ProPrint: "You get to see story statuses and layout statuses all at the same time. It gives you that real 'finger on the pulse' effect, so everything's a lot more transparent.

"This leads to being able to apply the right amount of work effort in the right place. In the past, you didn't really know what everyone was doing, everyone just did their own thing and at the end of the week you printed a magazine.

"With this, you can pick up more production capacity," he added.

Version six also delivers cross-media benefits to support a publication's website and social media pursuits, such as Twitter. Creative Folks said the software "allows editors to publish to multiple streams with the single click of a button".

Pacific, the nation's second largest magazine publisher, has been using WoodWing products since August 2007.

Netherlands-based WoodWing announced today that digital asset management software developer Celum would be forming a technology, sales and marketing partnership.
