Newsprinters praises Baldwin deployment

McPherson Media subsidiary Newsprinters has described the Baldwin LithoSpray World spray bars it deployed as “crucial” in its recent PANPA awards success.

Newsprinters added the spray bars to its seven-unit Goss Community press at its facility in the Victorian town of Shepparton. The press is used to produce the Shepparton News, which recently picked up two awards from PANPA, including a Pre-print or Supplement Technical Excellence award.

"I cannot stress too much the importance of the improvements we have seen throughout the pressroom since we installed Baldwin's LithoSpray World spray bars," said Newsprinters' print manager Angelo Cirillo. "Previously, on a print run of 5,000 copies we could easily have incurred wastage levels of around 1,200 copies but this can now be as low as 400. We've seen reductions in ink and water usage, while the press itself is much cleaner because there is less ink fly."

"We are also benefiting from greater productivity because our press operators no longer have to spend time every shift cleaning the 'socks' that were part of the original dampening system."

The company has extensively upgraded its Goss press in recent years, with the enhanced automation of the machine now allowing it to print up to 56 pages. The addition of an eighth unit early next year will give the press the ability to print 64 pages.

Newsprinters has also recently taken delivery of a Baldwin DailyLiner unit, a deployment that Cirillo also praised.

"The LithoSpray dampening system and the DailyLiner unit require very little maintenance," said Cirillo. "We've had to clean out the DailyLiner only once in four months of continuous use.  Both systems are extremely easy to operate and I have to say that the installation was the smoothest I've ever experienced of any equipment that we've incorporated into the Goss."

No offence to Baldwin or Newsprinters, but how is this news, and Bluestar's financial results aren't?

...and Energi Print in receivership, and street protests in Melbourne over the book bounty, and ACP pressing ahead with a megalithic web press centre..... Ooops! Oh, another press release, how nice for someone to write the news for me. Time for the pub and a pie now!

Ahhhh, May I quote a well know line from one of Queens greatest hits "another one bites the dust". Such a pity that so many loyal suppliers get the sharp end again, which will cost us all at some stage !!! When will we all wake up and see such impending train wrecks coming and stay clear. Energi has been on everyones lips for many years regarding this exact outcome !! I suppose the desperation of getting the work from these types of companies overides common sense, although your gut feeling is telling you that you may not get paid for the work completed !! Some suppliers deserve to get burnt, and they are the usual suspects at most creditors meetings whinging and whining, when they should/did know the likely outcome, and chose to ignore the signs ! Arrogance and Greed make great bed fellows

Considering they took Central Coast Printing in NSW down with them it should really be Another Two Bite the Dust.

It’s 17,000kms and almost 100 days away, yet Ipex keeps creeping into conversations. It’s certainly on my mind. In February, I went to London for the Ipex Media Summit, where the likes of Canon, ...
