Melbourne Museum of Printing facing extinction

The Melbourne Museum of Printing, one of the world's largest collections of preserved printing machinery and artifacts, is facing closure unless it receives urgently-needed funding.
Currently reliant on volunteer labour and management, the Museum has run out of money to pay for storage of museum pieces.
Having endured a number of location changes over the years, the Museum is currently located in the Melbourne suburb of Footscray, but is facing eviction with the Museum now forced to pay rent to house its collections at a series of sites which until recently had been provided free of charge.
The Museum looks at the rise and fall of various methods of printing and competing technologies throughout the years.
The last 18 months has seen an increased amount of activity at the Museum, particularly with tertiary institutions showing their students how printing was achieved prior to the computer age, with Museum figures claiming the institution can be self-sustaining in five years if it receives sufficient support from the industry.
